Sometimes I don’t have to write a tool because one already exists! This is an ongoing collection of tools I’ve used and liked.
Chrome extensions
-
Wayback Machine: The Internet Archive lets you save a third-party snapshot of publicly available web pages. When possible, I prefer using a Wayback Machine snapshot because it can’t be accused of being faked. However, it is possible for the content owner to request takedowns of content from Wayback Machine.

Full Page Screen Capture: lets you take a screenshot of an entire webpage even if it requires scrolling. You can save either as an image or PDF. Some pages, such as those behind a paywall or a social media login, can’t be archived by Internet Archive.
Software
- ABBYY FineReader: This is what I use to OCR screenshotted text. Kinda pricey.
